Even in the rain, Savages shine! Broken Bow Savage Overwatch Teams went up against ASTEC Charter School and Duncan High School, walking away with the win in both games! Team 1 (pictured) consists of Team Captain Hunter Haltom, Colt Haltom, Seth Sanders, Cooper Kemp, and Jasiah Herrod. Team 2 ran away before I could take a picture, but they're made up of Team Captain William Kemp, Jai'lin Scales, Gunner Pope, Kendall Eeds, and Alex Abeyta. Yesterday, we took 22 students to the EOSC Curriculum Contest in Wilburton, Oklahoma. We had a fantastic showing at our first curriculum contest of the year and had 16 students qualify for the state competition in May! The following students placed in the top 5 of our division and qualified for the state competition: Romeo Abeyta: 3rd in Medical Terminology Nina Blankenship: 4th in Plane Geometry Liyah Cleckler: 2nd in Journalism Charity Elliott: 3rd in Speech Rachel Hurst: 3rd in Oklahoma History William Kemp: 3rd in Physics Riley McBrayer: 2nd in Psychology Kris McCune: 5th in Ag Business Ember Moyer: 1st in English Composition: Short Fiction Katie Rogers: 2nd in Art Portfolio-Illustration I Ethan "Seth" Sanders: 1st in Trigonometry, 4th in American Literature Johnathan Schwartz: 2nd in Economics, 4th in General Business Caleb Shomo: 3rd in Chemistry Miley Trent: 3rd in Spelling, 5th in Library Skills Aron Willis: 1st in Art Portfolio-Illustration II Courtney Wood: 1st in English Grammar and Usage, 4th in American History We also placed 4th as a school in our division, which consisted of 14 schools, and 9th overall out of 36 schools. After a long weekend, exhausting rounds of competition, and some amazing performances and competitors, the Broken Bow Savage Speech/Debate team is going to state!!! We had four students qualify this past weekend at the regional tournament: Emalee Carbajal-6th in Monologue Emalee Carbajal & Kaydence Barnes-3rd in Dramatic Duet Jay Rodriguez-8th in Monologue Jay Rodriguez & Courtney Wood-6th in Humorous Duet The State Tournament will be held in April. I am so proud of the hard work and dedication that these students have put in all year long. Way to go, Savages!!!
