🥎Savage Softball lost a tightly contested pitching duel with Valliant at the Durant Tournament Thursday in their second game of pool play action. The Lady Bulldogs managed just one run against Maliyah Carney in the contest but that was enough for the 1-0 win as Valliant ace Kinley Smith silenced the Savage bats with a one-hit shutout. Carney had the only hit for Broken Bow. Valliant improved to 18-5 overall with the win. Broken Bow is now 14-5 on the season and 1-1 in the tournament pool. The tournament continues through Saturday in Durant. #SavageSoftball

🥎Softball Spotlight: Sophomore Tyson Woolsey is a three-sport athlete whose size and athleticism creates matchup problems for Savage opponents. Woolsey has been sidelined with a foot injury this season but is expected is expected to be back to full strength very soon. Tyson is also a starting member of the Lady Savage basketball team and throws shot put and discus for Savage Track and Field. She is in the top 10 percent of her class, serves as a class officer, and participates in student council. She serves as the primary scorekeeper for Savage Varsity Softball, and is also a member of National Honor Society, Key Club International, and FFA. 🥎Savage Softball kept their hopes for a district title alive with a convincing 13-2 win in Sallisaw on Monday. Seniors Haylie Brantley and Kennedee Brittain each drove home three runs in the contest. Brittain hammered a two run homerun in the third inning. Brantley and catcher Jaylen Cauthron both had three hits in the game. Cauthron also scored three times, as did sophomore classmate Mylee Williams, who added two hits in the game. Pitching ace Maliyah Carney was once again stellar in the circle, striking out ten batters in the five-inning rout of the Black Diamonds. Up next for the Savages is a Thursday home game against Tushka, the #2 ranked team in Class A.

Each student picked 4 to 5 different animals that represented their own personality traits and created their personal totem.
