The Broken Bow Savage Quizbowl team continued their county run yesterday evening. They played hard, losing one game in a nail-biting sudden death situation. We are now 4-2. The team will continue with Districts next Monday at Poteau. -Coach Clowers

AILYC (American Indian Leadership Youth Council) will wear orange this Thursday to honor “Every Child Matters Day,” a memorial to children forced into boarding schools, many of whom never returned or returned broken and abused.
You are invited to wear orange on Thursday, too. It’s completely voluntary.
AILYC will entertain students with a short program and social dances Thursday at 11 at 4square at the middle school followed by a short program presentation at the high school.

After reading the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, the BBHS Honors English I class performed a mock trial.
Students worked hard for several days gathering evidence from the text to support their case and prepping their attorneys and witnesses for the trial.
Mrs. Bray stated that "The students were very invested and put a lot of thought and time into building their case. We had a lot of fun, and I am so proud of them!"
We are thankful for Mrs. Bray and her teaching strategies that not only challenge students, but encourage them to be creative!

The high school FCCLA chapter is excited to partner with The Pearl House as our international outreach project!
Students in Family and Consumer Sciences classes have been writing encouragement cards. These cards are given to the Pearl House Academy’s JHS 3 class as they prepare for their final year exam that determines the Senior High School they will attend. Their students study all year long!
Our FCCLA chapter also set a goal to raise $500 for the Pearl House. These funds will help furnish the Home Economics Lab at The Pearl House Academy.
The Pearl House was founded in 2013 to provide hope for girls in rural Ghana, Africa. By providing physical care, emotional support, spiritual development, and life-changing academic/vocational opportunities, we empower our girls to discover their unique identity and purpose in Christ. The Pearl House protects, educates, and disciples at-risk young women in underserved communities around the world. To empower young women to change their families, their communities, and their nation. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for these girls, their communities, and their nation.

Today we feature a few pieces by Mr. Persinger. He’s been teaching for 26 years and working in a variety of artistic mediums even longer. Mr. Persinger recently won the Oklahoma Arts Education Award for Excellence as an Art Educator.
“This year is a very unique year at school. I am converting all my teaching to a visual display by drawing freestyle in a Galaxy Tablet S8 and streaming to the computer and projector so my students can see the techniques! The cool thing is I can record in the drawing program and use that to play back for students who missed or need to review the lesson multiple times,” Persinger said.

Bailey Graham is a Senior cheerleader for the Broken Bow Savage Cheer team. Bailey and her fellow cheerleaders were at Memorial Stadium Friday night for the 2023 Broken Bow Homecoming football game against the Ft. Gibson Tigers. 🎮Anyone who's worked with teenagers knows getting them out of bed early on a Saturday is a trial, but Savage ESports team met today at 7:30am for our monthly tournament, where all scheduled games had to be finished. We had several other schools forfeit and a couple losses, but we still walked away with some wins! -Coach Kiper

BBPS and the Broken Bow Police Department would like to thank the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children taskforce for presenting to our local middle and high school. The analysts and agent from the taskforce talked to the students about the dangers of the internet and how to stay protected.

These individuals shared their roles in the hospitality and tourism industry, discussed their personal journeys to their successes, imparted knowledge about the industry, work ethic, and much more.
