Upcoming Senior, Claire Dees, has completed the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Cadet Lawman Program.
Cadet Lawman is a free program for incoming high school seniors. Cadets learn many aspects of the law enforcement profession and is held annually the first full week of June at Connors State College in Warner, OK. 2024 is the program’s 50th Anniversary.
During this year’s program the cadets honored Claire’s dad, Trooper Nicholas Dees #731, by completing a 7 minute and 31 second workout. Trooper Snyder and Trooper Matthews graduated the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s 61st Academy with Trooper Dees. They too honored Trooper Dees with their workout.
In 2015, Trooper Dees was struck and killed by a vehicle on I-40, east of Shawnee. He and another trooper were investigating a wreck involving a semi-truck when a vehicle went around their patrol cars before striking both troopers. Trooper Dees died at the scene. The other trooper suffered serious injuries. The subject who caused the crash was arrested and later sentenced to 5 years in prison and 7 years probation.
Claire honors her dad’s legacy and inspires us all with her graduation this month from Cadet Lawman 2024! Congratulations!
