Rollout of the new measures will begin at this Friday’s football game.

Broken Bow, OK— 08/31/2023 —
School sporting events are thrilling displays of teamwork, talent, and school spirit. These events bring together large crowds of people into relatively small spaces. Recent events have shown that increased caution and heightened security measures are now a necessity at these types of events. Ensuring the safety and security of event attendees is foremost on the minds of school administrators across Oklahoma. Broken Bow Public Schools will implement the first phase of our new event security measures beginning with Friday night’s varsity football game with Durant High School. The game is at Memorial Stadium, located at 407 West 7th Street in Broken Bow, and will kick off at 7:30 P.M.

The implementation of stadium bag policies acts as a deterrent for attendees attempting to bring unauthorized items into the venue. By limiting the size and type of bags allowed, schools can prevent potential threats, such as weapons or dangerous substances, from entering the sporting event. The State of Oklahoma prohibits firearms on any public or private school property. Many educational institutions across our nation have implemented clear bag policies to mitigate potential risks and maintain a safely controlled environment. These bag policies require spectators to carry transparent bags when entering stadiums or sports arenas to help expedite the entry process.

Clear bags will not be mandatory at this week’s game, but school administrators are urging attendees to use personal discretion and limit the number of items they carry into Memorial Stadium. Attendees should also expect any large bags or containers to be inspected upon entrance into the gates. By implementing these policies at our game this week, we believe we are preparing our students and fans for future sporting events they may attend, reinforcing the importance of safety and security.

Broken Bow Public Schools thanks you, in advance, for your understanding and cooperation as we implement these new measures.
